This is about as low as they got in the US, (approx US $50.00), and for that it's a nice collection of white beams and bits. I'm not sure I would have bought it unless I had the other robotics bricks (Scout and RCX) already. It doesn't do much by (...) Nope. The really long ones are Mindstorms. They come in handy for remote control. The shortest one (15) and the long middle (70) are from the space shuttle. The 20.5 come in ZNAP and Mindstorms. I believe the 2 middle lengths are from Minstorms RIS. The longer ones are used in the 8480 Space Shuttle and the very short ones came in the Minstorms expansions (ie: Robo Sports and Extreme Creatures) as well as the smaller Z-nap sets. Basically, the number of T-pieces is one less than the number of cilinders. So with the same X and Y: X = Y - 1. That is, for the old ones that had only one tube going to them. There's also "Crystal Aput" in the Arctic Theme's Polar Base (6575), who has a common female head, but a unique torso, and (reputedly) "Haley Comet" in the largest of the SpacePort sets. Yep. The main difference is that in a car gearbox, the slip rings are generally all on the same shaft, mad possible by the vastly larger selection of gear wheel sizes in "real life" 8?) ROSCO (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)
