Jennifer,

Your excavator is brilliant and easily on par with your other creations.  I can barely wait for you to build
your next model.  In fact, if you want to build a large tracked vehicle with official LEGO parts, I would be
willing to loan you my stash of links (a fair bargain for the pleasure of seeing what you could build with
them).  For examples of what I've built with them, see my Large Tracked Vehicle here:

http://www.geocities.com/capecanaveral/runway/1604/bigtread.html

(this one is not particularly inspiring - it was more of a project designed to consume large numbers of
Technic chain links ... and the web page is somewhat bland)

Also see my working model of the Kennedy Space Center Crawler/Transporter, here:

http://www.geocities.com/capecanaveral/runway/1604/ksc_ct.html

(I'm fairly proud of this model, for it's function.  Cosmetically, it's a little lacking.  Also, the web page
is a little more sophisticated than my last effort)

Keep building ...

PS. I think the individual track pieces are still available from Dacta. I
bought some a year ago. They would allow you to construct much bigger
tracked vehicles.

I've seen these, but they were very expensive for what you get, so didn't
bother with them at the time. However, as you say, I will need some for
larger tracked vehicles at some point in the future...
