I profoundly disagree. It is liberals who are anti-freedom. Liberals are the
ones trying to tax and regulate anything that moves. You are confusing freedom
and morality again. Abortion, homosexuality, drugs etc. are not matters of
freedom but BASIC morality. All of these things are demonstrably destructive. I
live right smack between Miami Beach and Key West - both of which are
homosexual playgrounds - the devastation caused by this lifestyle is sadly
evident. In Key West there is a memorial to those who haved died because of HIV
- everytime I go there the list of names gets larger and larger. No matter what
Libertarians say, drugs and crime do go hand in hand. I also disagree with the
Libertarian premise that I should be allowed to destroy my own life as long as
I don't affect anyone else. This is ludicrous, no one exists in a vaccuum. It
is impossible for me to crumble in ruin and not affect someone else. Besides
the fact that if I don't contribute to the betterment of society as a whole I
have thereby contributed to it's decline. Everyone is someone elses child,
parent, sibling or role model, and that person has more impact on their
surroundings than they could ever imagine.
But, to get back to the main point, conservatives are far more likely to allow
the expansion of freedom for all. Liberals have consistently curtailed our
freedoms thru taxes and ridiculous legislation. The whole concept of freedom
revolves around jealously vigilant property owners protecting their own
liberties. It is liberals who are anti property rights not conservatives. As a
side note - this is why I believe so many people are disinterested in politics
- namely that we have become a society of property "renters" and not owners,
and thereby we have reconstructed a kind of feudal system.
