   Hello!

Even in German the plural of “1 Nazi” is “2 (or (unfortunately) more) Nazis”. But let me congratulate you on the ü :-)

Thanks, but it was pasted directly from babblefish, which also explains the slightly mangled translation.

And I somewhat like the design of the Schpiffkraft, it’s certainly interesting and well done.

Cheers

However, being the typical German grumbler without any sense of humorur, I wonder what makes the fascinazion (harhar) by naziism for you? Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s a fascinating topic and I don’t want to sway the moral mace, but I’m really interested in what exactly makes “Nazi” and their symbols interesting for you?

My interest has less to do with nazism itself than the reaction displaying it’s symbols still generates even today. The original Schpiffkraft thread being a prime example.

This model was largely inspired by this post. I wanted to see if I could render the ‘theme’ in a less offensive, more comical way, with a more accomplished model. The aim is not to stir up controversy, but to see if the space nazis can be done without stirring it up.

And besides, everyone hates Jack Stone don’t they?

I’m pretty sure the perception of what has happened during the Third Reich is quite different over there (wherever it is where you live) and over here (which is Germany).

I’m in Australia, and it’s probably not so different. General condemnation would best sum it up. I try to stay even handed and make fun of all political ideologies equally.

Here (GER) the conclusion after those 12 years of the “millenarian Reich” has been: Never again.

Indeed.

Of course everybody has to decide for themselves if this is funny enough to build MOCs about Nazis.

Well it’s not a new idea to make a joke out of nazism. Mel Brooks and Hogan’s Heroes spring to mind. I personally don’t think any subject should be out of bounds for humour, but it depends a lot on the execution. I’m hoping I carried it off well enough, but that’s ultimately up to the audience.

Bye Jojo

Thanks for the thoughtful comments.

(...) Dude. Nazism and Nazi symbols are offensive to Germans. Period. What is so hard to understand about that? Your little science project is doomed from the beginning. I mean, shesh-- imagery like that is illegal in a Democratic State, for crying (...) (19 years ago, 22-Dec-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

(...) Hogans Heros was WWI you dolt! And as far as Mel Brooks, he is a comic genious who earned respect first. He also saw the results of Hitler's handiwork firsthand, while serving in the Army in Europe in World War II. Do you go happy slapping (...)
