I was born in '67 so it was the '80's when I became a teenager.
But I was set when some of my older cousins played 'Crime of the Century'
when I was a kid. It was the first album I bought.
My parents listened to John Denver (who I still like, though he's
dead--shame really..) and Anne Murray (again, appreciate), but I grew up
listening to Foreigner and Rush! Kiss and the like were also played, but I
thought that they were too harsh and the garish make-up--ugh! 'Beth' was good.
Zepplin, like Kiss, I like around 4 out of their entire repitoire of songs.
The rest are just too harsh on the ears.
Rush I found to be less harsh on the ears, and a fine Canadian group! ;)
(and G Lee did the 'Take Off' song with Bob and Doug. "y'know, like 10
bucks is 10 bucks, eh!" You hosers!)
So 'Classic Rock' for me. Not harsh metal, punk, grunge, whatever--just
good old fashion rock 'n roll...
Springsteen!!
And when I've had an earful of that, I'll throw on "Barber of Seville" and
reminisce about Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd ;)
