Although I agree there is a time lag with email, I would argue that programs
like AIM and ICQ are problematic for some people who have low speed
connections, firewalls, or other system issues. Additionally, if people are
in different time zones across the globe (as they likely will be if the core
group is meeting on Lugnet), then it is unlikely that any instant message or
chat would really be any faster than normal email (the latter of which is
more reliable IMO).
