The only downside to working with an army
is that statistics are needed for the force,
which could generate headaches when processing
an event. For combat as of now, I would
say to use smaller skirmish parties. (you
can keep track of characters easier, and
if there is a problem, you're not bound to
lose too many forces, as opposed to bringing
an entire army into a dungeon.)

I believe having each player get AIM and
using it for chat would work nicely. (it
would also etablish a nice line of
communications between the players and GM
so as to lessen the usually inconvenient
time frame with email.
