The new site looks great, but I have one little question. I am currently running MLCAD 1.99R4, but when I follow the link from mlcad.ldraw.org to Michael's site, I can only find MLCAD 1.99R1. For the past week, I have been working with Michael Lachmann and Jacob Sparre Andersen to give LDraw.org a more MLCad focus. I've never tried to use camera options until now, but I think we can enhance that if we have a camera-file (like the light.dat) which L3P counts in. This way it's easy to define the camera - position and orientation ... Regarding the description (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.cad.mlcad)

MLCad being a Windows based program, I often find myself using "drag and drop" to place my next piece into my DAT file. If, for instance, I drop it into the "Front" view, then the piece goes into the DAT file at the X and Y location that is (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

When I started using MLCAD/L3P/POV-RAY, I had quite a few issues. - Installation - The existing ldraw.org was pretty good in instructing how to find and install these things. I noticed one of Marc Klein's parts had comments for a part rotation point. I assume this is because he used MLCad to open the part and saved it. It got me thinking, though. (...) Possibly! I got a copy of the latest LDLite and it does a much better job of rendering the edge lines. In the report dialog there is a checkbox to enable the parts-per-step report. If this is not checked you will receive a report over the complete model. I'll check that in the file-report as well - (I'm not sure here) Is it ok, that MLCad takes care (...) (25 years ago, 11-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Can anyone tell me how to mirror a model in MLCad or LDraw? I'm currently utilizing MLCad to make dat files of my Imperial Shuttle, and I've completed the left wing for it. I'd like to simply mirror the right wing, since it's an exact symetrical (...) (25 years ago, 8-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Chuck, do you mean a dll which generates some dat-lines to be included into the model? Than the idea is good, but the dll must be able to edit that as well. I mean assume the user generates something from the dll, and later he desides to change (...) (25 years ago, 8-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

We have been doing a lot of thinking and planning for the future focus of LDraw.org recently. Within a week or so, a new section of the site is planned to be released. I noticed when running a piece report that it doesn't allow for pieces in sub parts. It might be nice to have an added column that shows the pieces in each sub part, then total the number of pieces in the overall model. In other words, if you have (...) (...) Two thoughts on groupings: 1. For the default groupings, read the parts list and create groups for all first-words (or use the 0 CATEGORY entries from the part-files). This creates some odd non-groups, but it's better (IMO) than going through (...) (25 years ago, 1-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

This sounds something is wrong - the dialog wan't allow to continue until all the data are correct: 1) Make sure export path contains a valid directory name (e.g. C:\TEMP) 2) If you are using the processing log-file make sure the entry contains a (...) (25 years ago, 27-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Should be possible since I use a static link library for holding the renderer and file cache. When V2.0 is ready I will work on that. (...) I don't use the export function so I can't comment. But if you want to raytrace, get POVray, install it, then get L3Lab (or L3P) and install it. What I do to trace is save my MPD with the design I want traced. Then I launch L3Lab, navigate to (...) (25 years ago, 26-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

I'm fairly new to MLCad, and after I recently got ready to delve into the depths of raytracing my designs, I found that the export command was a little odd... Michael, is there a possibility you could put the rendering engine from MLCAD into a DLL? That would make it very easy to create other add-ons for the community. (...) Sure can! Just click on the menu Settings | Groups | Group Configuration. You'll see existing groups and their search criteria. When opening a file, if any sub parts are not found (the program alerts to this and offers a "Yes/No" dialog) and the file is opened anyway, clicking on the "Unknown" element will cause a Protection Fault Error: MLCAD caused an exception 10H in (...) You can use MPD for that ... an example: 1) You create your main scene without the figures ... 2) You IMPORT the figures now, either sitting, staying however 3) You switch back to the main-scene and include the sub-model (the figure) like any other (...)
