(...) Oh, right. Second read I realized what you meant. Here is a crude 7-wide shell built on a 6x28 train baseplate. It uses the 1x2 Technic bricks with 2-holes, the Technic Axle with stud at one end, and Technic Bushings to locate the SNOT 2x2 (...) (18 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains)

Well it isn't Australian, but we always seem to commandeer all the good stuff from NZ and call it ours. Widely believed to be the first 4-8-2s ever built, these were built for use on the north island of New Zealand in the early 1900s. (URL) Enjoy! (...) The other problem with it is that it may not work since real studs are a little taller than half a plate. The best I've come up with so far is something (...) I've been tinkering with the "ldraw.xml" file in LEGO Digital Designer (LDD), and have come up with the following list of fixes for good LDD/LDRAW conversion. Lately the focus here in Lugnet may have been on 6-wides again (due to the factory sets), but 7-wides are just the perfect compromise between detailing and reliable operational behaviour. (And (...) (...) In my personal experience, most 7-wide trains run well on layouts with standard curves. IMO 7-wide is in a nice sweet spot between 6-wide practicality and the extra detail of 8-wides. You may have seen my dark grey hoppers before. They're a two-axle design. I tried to email LEGO about this, had to go through the web forms, then got an email back telling me I had to basically go through exactly the same web form process again, but start from the Factory (...) Bulleid Q1 class 0-6-0 (URL) The Bulleid Q1 locomotive is an obvious choice (to me anyway) for a Lego train MOC, angular, uncomplicated, and as an added bonus a little bit unusual. Today I just sold a circuit of 9V track from some 4534 sets I got during the January 2003 clearances on BrickLink, and when I went to retrieve them I noticed a few tiny spots had "bloomed" on the rails of virtually all of them.
