I am not a big fan of it, but it is sitting here on my coffee table waiting
to be put together.
I also have my UCS X-wing here, also waiting to be put together, and I am
expecting my UCS Tie too be here any day.
I do think that Lego did as good as job as they could at the price point
they were aiming for.
I would love to see them do a little catering to AFOL's and do some higher
priced non-retail packages. Something I suggested before. Plain brown box,
some color copied instructions, and nothing else fancy. This would allow
them to make money with as little as 4 or 5 hundred sold. Everyone is trying
to buy Ben's MF model. I am not sure if I remember seeing it, but it sounds
like a good one for Lego (or some third party, AFOL) to model this sort of
high end UCS MF after. It would be a lot easier for Lego to do this, since
they do not have to part out sets to do it.
One other idea, would be for an AFOL to take the current MF set, and some
other SW sets (say the Y-wing/tie set, or even the UCS Tie) and combine them
into one really great MF and then sell (or give away) the plans to build it.

| (...) I might buy it after it goes on sale. I'm not willing to pay full price though. <snip> (...) Why is that really the question? I think TLG raised the bar on themselves in this case, and I think they should have been a bit more careful when (...) (25 years ago, 16-May-00, to lugnet.starwars)
