Oh, it’s the whole thing with how networks were convinced for so long that the only way a sci-fi show could survive is if it has the Star Trek name attached to it, but then here we are where the name has become something of a pariah, and other IPs are creating the successful spin-offs. Paramount just seemed to have stopped trying to make cutting edge sci-fi in favor of going after easy profit. Maybe they’ll come up with something worth watching down the road, but I think the biggest mistake they keep making is farming out their script-writing to any monkey with a typewriter. Didn’t Freddie Prinz Jr. write an episode of Enterprise? I’m sorry, the order of those sentances seems to imply things that I did not intend. My apologies to monkeys everywhere.

(Paramount cut their per episode charges by something like half just so it would get picked up for a forth season).

Huh? I thought UPN was their puppet network. Or are they still doing that thing where their network is syndicated to independant stations, and those stations get to choose when they want to buy the shows and when they don’t?

However, yes, I like being able to watch a series that is compacted down to a few months. I got into X-Files just past half-way through it’s original run, and was forever confused on the Grand Alien Conspiracy issues until TNT stripped it in with two episodes back to back every weeknight. It would take maybe three weeks per season.

Most series are 22 eps per season, so it should take two weeks and a day at that rate.

Cat-suited alien space babe with technically enhanced boobage?

Mostly, yeah. 69 was arguably not an alien, by virtue of her pre-borgage human birth.

Can’t say that I care much for the time-tripping pre-destination stuff.

I’m not sure I got that far. I think the last episode I watched in straight succession was the one where Archer goes to the future with the future time-jumper-dude only to find that everything has been destroyed and they can’t send him back home.

I usually lose interest in TV shows after a while - for the original Star Trek I even passed on signing a second petition to keep it on the air (they slashed the budget (like ST:E) and the writing got really bad even for me at that age).
