All wastes are routed to the shoulder pads on men and breast pads on women
for eventual recycling. This explains how the fatter the actor got the
bigger the shoulder pads got (eat more, excrete more, bigger shoulders to
balance out the bigger belly).

Wait, didn’t the stillsuits only recycle water? Most of the rest of the stuff
is toxic to humans, so there’s not much point in reclaiming it, just disposing
of it.

shoulda been there! :-)

They were spending too much time chasing after cutting edge theoretical science.
Stillsuits weren’t new enough and water reclamation is a proven reality (have
you ever wondered why the Mariner in Waterworld bought jugs of water when he
could have just dumped ocean water into that little pee-recycling device of
his?)
