In lugnet.off-topic.debate, Eric Sophie writes:
Becasue I care about the community I'd like to give myself and everyone
another chance at promoting a better understanding.

Let me start by saying, I'm sorry for all the hassle.

It was a simple misunderstanding, Eric, that's all.

I should have posted within my Lug group asking and encouraging a Curator
within our ranks.

Eric, you knew long ago that I'd asked for the curatorship of .build.mecha. You
also knew of my frustration watching as other curators were named, but not for
.build.mecha. When I finally walked away from it, it was due to the frustrations
of waiting and not getting a response. Frustration breeds many things including
most of my responses from earlier today.

I should have encouraged either myself of my Pal Dave Johann to take up the
reins as curator. Thanks to Rob D. for comming forward.

Actually, you ultimately did do this. I threw my hat back into the ring partly
due to you and partly do to my need to see things done right. Ultimately, I
don't care who curates what, but I'd like to think that any assigned curators
are up to the task at hand. A love of the subject and a working knowledge of FTX
doesn't hurt either. :)

I never whinned or complained in my book, I just met my attackers head on,
I'm no chump, I stand up for myself. But in the end all I did was bother
people and I am sorry for that.

Eric, I'm one of the few whose talked with you at length. When I saw what was
going on, I knew what was happening, but had no way to stop it. LUGNET is full
of hotheads and I'll fully admit to being one of them. We're all in this
together to stand up for what we believe in.

I should have listened more.

Why do I suspect Cindy will be repeating this line to you quite often...;)

I should have been more on top of my Life so that I may have taken on the
Curatorship myself or at least help in some way other than asking for
outside help.

amen to that! Words we all need to live by.

I do respect all of you.

We know.

Public postings leave you open for disection. I should have known better,
and I should have tried to do everything possible before asking for help
from Suz.

add the word 'publicly' to your last sentence and I think you've got it. Many
problems can be solved behind the scenes via email. Some of the others involved
in this thread should heed the email thought as well. On the other hand, I
should post more publicly and rely less on email as it doesn't inform the masses
as much as a single email does. I alopogize to those who weren't aware that many
of us had asked Suz for the curator position via email. Posting public requests
can be a good thing (yet another great lesson learned from Lar).

I want to earn everybodies respect again.

Don't we all.

I'll try harder to DO and be less passive.

I'll try harder to build and make .build.mecha be as visible to all of Lugnet as
it is to you and I.

I care about this place.

To quote the movie 'Ghost'- "Ditto."

I care about everyone.

"Ditto"

I came to Lugnet to make friends, not make people upset. I'm sorry.

That's probably the most important thing you've said. Friends are an invaluable
commodity. I'm proud to count you among mine.

I wish I could have just tried better.

I say that every day of the week, my friend.

If Chris Weeks says FTX is easy, then I should give it a try. I respect him
and trust his words.

It's not terribly hard and might give you insight into HTML as well. I picked it
up in under two hours. The FTX guide really is that good!

I appreciate the efforts of SUZ and every Lugnet member.

Amen!

I only wanted to do good. I did bad. I was impulsive in my request.

I still think you were frustrated just like I am. Seeing other areas of Lugnet
that we care nothing about get curators quickly while we twiddle our thumbs
isn't an easy thing to do. I apologize for sounding like a bullying a$$ in my
posts earlier today, but when people start thowing around the word 'lazy' to
describe the mecha community....well, let's just say it's not an accurate word
to use. I got ticked off because it appeared that while .train got all the
attention for the pilot curatorship .build.mecha got ignored. Add into that all
the recent discussion about curating .loc.uk and you can begin to see why I was
so frustrated about the apparent lack of .build.mecha curator talk. I'm sorry.

I should have asked for help by making a post for suggestions.

Eric, what exactly could we do except wait? It's out of our hands, my friend.

I dunno, I'm depressed. Sukz to be on the outs.

sheesh! Tell me about it!

Can I make up for it somehow, someway, someday?

I'm sure you will. You're good at make-ups.

I have enough head on my shoulders to admit I was off.

and if it wasn't off before, it almost got lopped off in this thread. ;) (okay,
I'll admit it, that was uncalled for)

I care enough to put my self out again to dry if anyone wants to hang me again.
It's more important to me to patch things up, say sorry and keep in mind
that there are always other alternatives.

:)

I'm weird sometimes. I can't help it, but help it I must, it's no excuse.

Sometimes? Man, that's one of the prerequisites for posting in .build.mecha!

I don't want to cast any stones. I like calm waters.

Not the surfer type, are you?

I just made a jump shot into the waste basket! Whoo Hooo!

Woo Hoo!

We can have fun, I rather play and build and promote a better understanding.

:)

If I was off base I appologize. I have the gumption to try to get things done.
Although I just keep messing up. I'll keep trying to do better.

You were, I was, and virtually everyone involved in this thread screwed up in
some way, shape or form. Only McGlone escaped unscathed...curse you, McGlone! ;)

I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I just felt so attacked.

I can understand that. I felt attacked as well just by some of the words that
were being thrown around. Those that don't build mecha just don't understand us,
though the space guys keep trying.

In a way, because no one other than Dave has come forward to ask for
curatorship, I thought OK fine, we'll just have no Curator until someone is
finnally interested.

I've always been interested, and still am, but how much email do I send before
my request is answered? I was frustrated and that led to my lashing out at
people I'm ordinarily have good conversations with.

I was just hoping to ask for a little update until a suitable Curator could
be found. Sorry, I should have asked in that way, if that's acceptable. I
know I should have done it myself. It was a small stop gap I was looking for.

Yes and no. As I pointed out earlier, it's tough to update things you can't
physically change.

I appreciate what Suz did for us. She has asked me to Relax, I promise to do
that. But I want to some how to get back into good graces.

If you appreciate it, then I REALLY appreciate it. I've been waiting for
something to indicate that Suz has been listening. Tonight, I got that. I'm
sorry that it took this mess to evoke such a response though.

Please give me a chance again, I'm not a bad person. I care a great deal for
so many things. I can't make any excuses except to say I promise to learn
from my mistakes. If I keep making mistakes, well then that's bad. I haven't
fell on my face more than once so please give me another shot.

We all make mistakes. It's up to others to help us up after falling on our faces
rather than squashing them further into the mud.

It hurt me to have some of you pound on me. I guess from your stand points,
I had it comming. I just felt attacked form all sides. Basically I could
have avoided the whole thing if I were to have just gone about it in a
different way.

Yep.

I promise you all I will not repeat this again. I will ask Rob D. if he's
really serious about curatorship in .mecha and or enourage myself or others
to take on the task.

Rod may be serious, and I know I still am. (Not frustrated so badly anymore
either).

LMHoF

Forever!

Well, this is it, either you accept my appologies and keep in mind that I
can see where I went wrong, or you can hold it against me. Please give me a
chance to redeem myself. Please.

You've got it from me. Hopefully, others will follow suit.

I plan on building a Mechanical Cat about 3 feet long.

!!!!!

When I'm done. If it brings a smile to your face, please let me know that I
have made you happy and know it's the only way I know how to express myself.
It's all I have to give. The brick and I. I pour my heart into my creations.
I know we all do, some more serious than others. I would hate for my misdeed
to point you away from my creations. I so want all of you to enjoy them. I
make Lego Creations to make me happy and more importantly to show what the
Lego system is capable of.

Eric, all of your creations bring a smile to my face.

If you responded to this giant thread, please do so again, so I have a
chance to make up with you. It's worth it in my book to promote a better
understanding.

Ditto.

Sincerly,

If this is too little to late, please reconsider. I can be an ok guy,
really. Gimme a chance. You'll see. Thank you.
