Your love for The Brick--indisputable
Your appreciation for all things LEGO--unquestionable
Your want for things on LUGNET to improve--admirable
I did a quick scan--there are 52 top level groups in LUGNET (taken from the
first page of Newsgroup, just counted them). This doesn't touch the
subgroups, which mecha is part of. If every newsgroup wanted a listing
update done by the admins, that's a heck of alotta work.
This is my point.
As well, nowhere in the LUGNET agreement does it say the admins are
responsible for specifically updating the links on the sub groups. When
most sub-groups are started, the admin probably sets up a few related links.
When someone is interested in a group enuf to update links, that is when
links get updated.
I love the MOCs I see from the mecha group, 'specially lately--all those
multi-coloured mechas--really neat!
I have no idea where the money goes, but I imagine it goes to the upgrade
and maintenance of the LUGNET servers, the cost of maintaining the
connection, and Internic probably gets a few bucks for the domain name. I
dabbled into website hosting on a small scale and was astounded at the costs
involved and incurred after a few months--and that was for a small site.
LUGNET is *huge*, offering the best place for web resources on our favourite
hooby.
I say "Keep up the great work!" to the admins, and not go looking for *more*
work for them to do when we can do it ourselves.
Ask not what LUGNET can do for you, ask what you can do for LUGNET!
(apologies to JFK ;) )

The links that are out of date have been out of date for a long time, and they were put (...) (23 years ago, 7-May-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
