argue that the Space theme was at a disadvantage.

Yeah, that was what I was pointing out in my original reply.  Space has been
beaten down, probabbly because of the Star Wars sets.  But so has castle w/
Harry Potter.  Yet castle has 1 unvoted re-release and one MOC.  Space has
nothing of substance now that LOM is gone.  I think it would be great if
Lego made a MOC of a space creation- there are so many good small and medium
space creations out there...

actual votes aside, and the actual placement, I still think Space fans got a
raw deal all around.

It is the smallest of the sets offered, and while not a space buff, I might
be able to find some use for the elements.  The BlackTron I had really cool
logo ... and the minifigs make really cool shock troops.

Maybe next time they have a vote, they can put out something from the
golden age of space.

Here is my choice...maybe not from the "earliest" days of space...ie the
triple digit space sets (as opposed to the more later-traditional of the
68xx and 69xx space sets)...

the 6930... http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6930

though it might be difficult for LEGO direct to get the mold to produce the
(moonrocks) baseplate.

This set has play appeal, relatively simple to build, inexpensive, and could
be useful for parts.

Just my opinion though...they are plenty of extremely COOL space sets that
LEGO could have chosen....and quite a few the molds wouldn't be too hard...

...who remembers going to (I think) the Royal Ontario Museum, and seeing the
large Lego Space Display...with moving motorized parts, and lighted up very
well!!!  As a young kid, I thought that was extremely cool.

However, my parents thought I'd enjoy the town lego better....which I still
immensely enjoy...but if Lego were to re-release the Classic Space stuff,
I might be tempted to buy it!!!

(...) The baseplate would be a problem, but I think the <part:4089> "Slope Brick 33 3 x 2 Inverted Hollow with Towball" would be even worse. Perhaps they could use <part:4626> as a replacement? The hinge (<part:3639>/<part:3640>) used in one of the (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) Yeah, this time round, but remember you've got to 'share da brick' with other themes and I'm not just saying that because I'm a piratehead too. Okay then maybe I am. (...)
