I think LEGOs differ greatly from other items that people collect because it
is a toy, a tool and an art medium. So, because LEGOs are different, I think
the types of "collectors" are different.
* There's the traditional LEGO collector who buys and keeps LEGOs strictly as
sets.
* There's the LEGO builder who collects LEGOs as parts and pieces for their
own creations.
* Then there's the builder/collector who incorporates a bit of both.
So, I think Jimmy is technically correct that we are all "collectors" in the
sense that we do "gather" or "collect" our materials either as builders or
collectors. I believe I'm a LEGO BUILDER and I buy LEGOs for parts and
pieces in MY OWN CREATIONS, not for the sets made by the company. I am not a
LEGO collector who amasses and maintains the product in it's retail form or
package. I do make one exception by sometimes making original models within
a LEGO theme (such as Space or Star Wars), but this is a building consideration.

| Hello! (...) Exactly this is what I am. I collect sets. I try to get as many complete sets as I can get. But! I use the bricks of my (complete) sets and build my own creations. There ain't any models complete assambled in my showcase. Even my (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

| I would just like to clarify a point here: we are all Lego collectors. Lego refers to us that way, we behave like classic collectors, and there is nothing wrong with being a Lego collector!
