Family Stoned, Burned:  There are several great creations here that hide under
soft focus in the background--the microscale Ai, the trees, the city gate, and
the tents made of capes.  Do you have focused pictures of these?
I'd like to
see them in greater detail.

The tents you get to see in relatively sharp focus in some later pics.  I don't
think I have any focussed shots of miniscale Ai on hand, but I think it's still
intact, so I'll try to get around to posting one, though I'll be out of town
this weekend.

In this and the next installment I dislike your
depiction of the men of Ai.  I think it's the backwards helmets--seems a little
Python-esque (not that that is usually meant as a criticism).

The helmets are silly.  And like those of the men from Jericho, not very
effective--while they would block a blow to the top of the head, they leave the
back and sides of your head pretty much open to attack.  But these are ancient
peoples who did not yet fully understand the helmet.  Actually, it's more just
that I know I'll have so many different armies to illustrate for The Brick
Testament, I want them all to have their own unique appearance, so I'm driven to
try out new and unconventional ways of using the same four or five helmet
designs in different ways.

Nice use of the
pirate torso for Joshua's torn clothes.  God's elbowless arm doesn't bother me
as much as the previous time you did this.  It feels kind of cartoony.

I think in some circumstances, when an arm is fully outstretched, you don't
really expect to see the elbow.  But yeah, since this is a goofy photo, the
comic effect is what's important.

In 7:24, is that a new goat design?  I'll have to add it to my listing of animals.

Yes, I wanted to come up with a better goat.  By all means, you are welcome to
add it to your animal catalog, but I'll have to warn anyone interested that it's
a pretty fragile design.  The skeleton legs are just pressed into the underside
of 1x2 plates.  They "click" in place to a small degree, but it's not a standard
connection, and they tend to pop out of place with the slightest encouragement.
Looks nice, though.

In that same pic, great baby.  Where did you get a blank tan head?  Is that a
Brasso'ed Tusken Raider?

It's just a Tusken head with the printing turned away from the camera.

Nice detail to have the burned version of the baby a
few pics later (does that make me sound cruel?).

I think of it as compassioante to show all the victims.

12,000 Massacred:  In 8:2 the map doesn't work as well as the previous instance.
I think it's the water in the lower left quadrant that doesn't fit.

Possibly, but I wanted to rearrange the map a little to make it look different.

I like
Joshua's speech in 8:7 and the orange sky as they march in 8:10.  Very
forboding.  Ah!  Attack of the warriors with the silly hats again!  I do like
the king a lot.  Is that one of the torsos from the new Jelly-bean knights line?

Yep, that's a rainbow knight torso.

In 8:17, I'm a little surprised.  After the scantily clad men of Ai, the women
are all very conservatively dressed.

Strange, strage customs these people have.  Kill them all!

The red and green dresses look great,
especially with the variation in height.  How many of those are Imperial Guard
torsos?  The taller woman front and center seems to be, but it doesn't show up
clearly.

I've only got two Imperial Guard torsos, so the rest are just plain red torsos
(most with printing on the other side).

I really like the columns you have in the background made of the 4
1x1x6 square-round-square bricks.  In 8:22, are those unfocused minifigs, or
stacks of red, green, and yellow plates?

They are microscale versions of the men of Ai.  I only had the parts to make
about eight proper Ai soldiers.  If you examine some of the other photos
closely, you can see that some of the Ai men in the background will have
backward black cloaks on their heads instead of proper helmets, and some have
Islander woman torsos, complete with (man) boobs.  Yikes.

Anyhow, I really wanted to do at least one non-close-up of from this massacre,
so I knew I'd have to use microscale and soft focus to accomplish that.  Using
1x1 plates and 1x1 round plates in the colors of the Ai army, I was able to make
about 40 Ai soldiers, and hopefully give the impression of many more.

Beyond them, what elements are you
using for the distant Israelite troops in brown?

My standard elements for microscale Israelites have been 1x1 cylinders in tan
and brown.  In this shot I ran low on brown cylinders, so I added some 1x1
bricks as well.  I try to have them overlap a bit to make it harder to tell that
it's all 1x1 cylinders and bricks.

In 8:24, the woman in the
midst of being chopped in half in the center of the screen is particularly
effective.  I'll have to try something like that.

It's always a challenge to show weapons poking right through a minifig.  But
it's usually worth the effort.  @8^)

Thanks for the comments!
