I've written a program to record the timing of a rotation sensor changing in an array, but all I get out is zero's and the occaisonal 1 or 4. (...) The brake function (as far as I know) should not use more battery power as the short circuit is in the driver chip itself. If I am understanding the problem correctly here, you should look into using DCC from the RCX. If I do understand your problem, here is a link to a site where a guy tackles using RCX with LEGO trains, and controls them uniquely well with the help of (...)
