Hi and thanks for the link!  My problem isn't so much a problem more of a "I've
got these LEGO computers, I don't build robots, now how do I make use of them"
kind of thing. :)

I think, unfortunately, the building or converting of an RCX is beyond me at
this point in time.  I was hoping that the LEGO computers or smart bricks might
be simple enough to incorporate into a train track.  I haven't given up but I
think I will play around some more and research a little more here on LUGNET and
on the web.  It is perhaps a little blasphemous to mention that the most use I
have achieved out of the RCX is spinning the props of and driving a large model
plane forwards.  Not very creative perhaps, but fun all the same.  I have big
plans though, promise.

If I am understanding the problem correctly here, you should look into using DCC from the RCX. If I do understand your problem, here is a link to a site where a guy tackles using RCX with LEGO trains, and controls them uniquely well with the help of (...) (20 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics)
