Hey, looks like a nice setup you've got there. Is that from a specific event? I like the bridge there, it's not too huge a rise so that it looks unnatural. The roundhouse looks pretty cool too. Hey all, I finally had the chance to run my trains this weekend. If you don't know, I have been building my trains 8-wide, and the size and weight of my cars was causing a problem. I would do both, convert 7722 to 9v AND buy two 'build your own trains' - say a small loco and a large loco and tender - from them you get the other combinations. Buy any Lego train you can. David (23 years ago, 27-May-01, to lugnet.trains)

It looks to me like the motor is in the tender (on the 7722), what I think I'll do is put the 9V motor in the tender and put either the red or black 4.5V/12V wheels on the engine. I think this would look better than the new engines being offered by (...) (23 years ago, 26-May-01, to lugnet.trains)

Hi James, thanks for sharing your design ideas! Looks great, except the tiny little 12V wheels - as Gianluca already said. Such a huge loco needs 9V wheels and the motors will go underneath the cars! Jake, Hey, that looks great. A few comments... I think that there should only be one blower housing. You have two bulges just behind the cab, one on each side. I think that there should only be a bulge on one side (the "driver's" side if it was a (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.trains)

I'd like to note one thing first, I LOVE the buldged out windows on the side, but any real locomotive would only have it on one side, the engineer's side (passenger side if it were a car...). The bulged window is usually left white also... But (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.trains)

All, After many hours and several versions, I have just posted the final prototype (read: still in the works) of a locomotive MOC on brickshelf: (URL) is still in design phase (thus the flat gray color scheme, and wrong color windows), so go easy on (...) (...) Just to clarify: The only show where we were *required* to have flame-retardent skirting was the NMRA 'National' show. Personally, I would much rather purchase a new "Classic" Metroliner at the sub $150 price point as opposed to a used one at $250...
