Well if I want proto photos or a close approximation thereof, I sort of
don't care what scale they are as long as they are *to scale* or close. (1)
I can build from an HO pic just as easily as from a proto pic.... (2)
1 - while what I render won't be "to scale" I want to choose the distortion
myself working from a close representation rather than from an already
distorted one.
2 - relatedly, J2 had an HO shell that he was working from in trying to
create an 8 wide loco, it did help him get views from any angle, which you
can't do with a pic... but spending 15 bucks for a shell is a bit much for a
model unless you REALLY want it! However didn't SS buy a model of his 88 MM
?? the BS site has some pics of models he posted in that folder anyway
