Shutting down the GUI and starting it back up has no effect, pbForth continues to respond correctly. Adding words to the dictionary doesn't seem to make any difference either. (...) Thanks... (...) When the RCX is sitting idle, the pbForth interpreter is spinning and looking for characters from the IR. The GUI version is 2.1.0. The pbForth version (COLD) is 2.1.2. I am using the USB tower with RIS 2.0. Once the RCX stops responding, if I pull out a battery and re-upload the firmware, the RCX will respond again to the same GUI session. In other (...) I am using the TCL GUI provided by Ralph Hempel on a Windows 2000 machine to program the RCX 2.0 in pbForth. The upload of the firmware appears to be working just fine. Ok, I have gotten myself confused again. 0-0.32mA represents a voltage dropbetween 0 - 3.2 volts. Therefore the voltage that the RCX "reads" on theA2D is between 5 - 1.8 volts (1023 - 368 RAW)? I believe any data source (not just timers/sensors/variables) can be used in SetUserDisplay. The big limitation is that local variables cannot be used since the display is updated in a global context independent of the tasks. If you know of data (...) Oops. Looks like a bug in the NQC API file. I just fixed the bug in the NQC source, but it's not major enough to warrant a new release yet. No, the RCX knows nothing about the diodes. That is why devices like the light sensor only send a current signal in the range 0 - 0.32mA back to the RCX. Ok, this brings up an interesting question... What is the best way to use LNP with windows? the version of WinLNP that I see is _ancient_ and requires VC++ to work.... so I see that there is a linux version, I was wondering it would be possible to (...) SetUserDisplay does not work like that. You need to specify either a sensor, timer, or global variable. Once you have done that it will continuously update the display as the value changes. You can try a few things with the makefile.common in the util directory and change the tool prefix from cc to gcc. John, The crash is because NQC is trying to print out an error message but doesn't have legitimate information about the lexical location (file, line number, etc) of where the error occurred. Fredrik, You can check to see what Cygwin packages have been installed on your system by using the cygcheck command. Stephen - I've recently taken a couple of patch postings to legos.sourceforge.net by Ross Crawford and Zhengrong Zang and have come up with a hybrd solution (on 0.2.6) to implement the remote control. I spent a week googling about trying to see if RIS 2.0 worked under Windows 2000 or not, to no avail. I specifically asked Lego and they said it was unsupported (as expected). I don't think collision detection will be possible since the hardware/firmware does a checksum (at least in lego firmware), and no message is provided to the VM software (LASM), this prevents ACK/NAK protocols working. The 'usual' way to get status data is to poll the the RCX memory for status information, but you can't do that because of the number of RCX bricks; so how about getting each RCX to send a response message (or series of messages) to the PC encoding (...) heh.. wow.. seems theres alot of work going on on the LNP front these days. i too am working on a TCP like addition to the LNP's UDP protocol. (...) Yes, that ist normal. :) With gcc 3.0.3, you get these errors with the c++ demos. I haven't fiddled with it to get rid of those. hi John, I think there's a small bug in BricxCC version 3.3.4.5 (and also in some previous versions). When you insert a template it's not possible to type directly into the "fields". The legOS team has released this interim version of legOS. A hearty thankyou goes to those who helped us test and suggest improvements for this release! You can still switch back and forth between legOS and NQC if you find the joystick control helpful. Another suggestion is to write a legOS program that runs all axis at intervals...if you just need it for testing. A final suggestion is to use the (...) I finally have everything working, here's what I did: Installed binutils and gcc with Max Bowsher's script. Hi all, I've been toying with the idea of switching from NQC to LegOS, but one thing that is keeping me from doing so is that I have not seen a remote control from the PC application similar to that is included with the NQC IDE's on windows. I have verified that the following configuration works (but not without some minor modifications). I am hoping to submit and include the modifications in a future release of legOS (maybe 0.2.7).
