I'm going into Manhattan now. I've been working most of the night on my
little part of restoring normalcy. I'm seething mad this morning. Who is my
anger directed against? It's not directed at my Muslim co-workers, whom I
expect to have lunch with, nor at any other citizens I expect to meet today.

I believe the concepts that should guide America's response are: deterrence,
and anti-appeasement.

There has been too much appeasement of terrorists by the US, and perhaps
other countries. No retribution was ever exacted for the USS Cole attack,
because we insist on this policy of bringing individual terrorists to
justice (as if they were in an American courtroom.) This kind of appeasement
encourages more attacks. It must stop.

Deterrence means: Anyone who has declared that they have the intention, and
the means, to attack Americans should be the targets of retribution. That
includes any of bin Laden's troopers, and any other terrorist organization
known to be operating against America, whether they participated in this
week's attack or not. Take them all down. Otherwise, they will make the next
move. Justice calls for sufficient deadly force to be used against known
terrorist organizations. If other deaths are unavoidable, so be it. No
terrorists would feel sorry about doing it to us.

OK, the sun is coming up. Time to catch a train.

You know, I am not at all happy about what has (...) (23 years ago, 13-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) OK. I just can't let this go. Its absolutely absurd to say things like this! (...) This sounds pretty similar to "No jews=supreme Aryan state" to me. (...) Who are you threatening to "take down"? Some random muslim perhaps? Or maybe the whole (...) (23 years ago, 13-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
