Dave Schuler:

I don't think I would ever use clone parts (as in shape, not
necessarily as in producer) myself, but I definitely think
that we should admit that LDraw can be used for more than
just drawings of LEGO-models.

I you or somebody else would like to maintain a "non-LEGO"
section at ldraw.org, I think it would be fine. I am sure
you can count on help with the practical stuff from Tim as
well as from me (even though Tim dislikes clones :-).

Sure, I'd help.  But *practically* <grin> how would it fit in?  Would there
be a 'Non-Lego' main section of the site as in
http://www.ldraw.org/non-lego/?  Because it can't go under
/download/updates/ - that's saved for official L-CAD [1] parts updates.  I
don't think it would be popular enough to be worth the implimentation.  How
bout a poll?  We could put a little voting script on the front page of
ldraw.org for a couple weeks and see what our visitors think.

In short, if anyone is interested in seeing the
offending pieces, Email me and I'll send you the link.

I don't know if you have done it already, but posting the
URL for your clone-DAT's should be quite on-topic in
lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands. Ne c'est pas?

That would be an appropriate place for them.

Not that I read lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands. ;-)

:)

[1] Is that what we're still calling oursleves now?  It *is* tradition and
all, but newbies would have no clue what L-CAD is cause the original
mailing list does not exist anymore.
