A flight from NZ to the UK is about 24hours. Not sure if that's a non stop
flight but with the 747-400's it may be possible.

The bottom half of the South Island will be the location of the bulk of the
filming of LOTR. The weather is a bit unpredictable at times but I'd
imagine that filming will take place during our summer, which is winter in
the US/Europe.
