I'd say it should be reduced - there are potentials for generalization

I think the current document suffers from confusing connection
possibilities with other physical limitations -- for instance, a car
base (<http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=4212>) has a 2x2
inset stud area. Since only 2x2 parts (or smaller) may be connected
here, should this be a different connection type? (warning: rhetorical
question, correct answer: "no") Likewise, the 'minifig headgear'
connection really should just be a normal anti-stud connection.
Preventing intrusion of one part into another is an issue separate from
specifying connection points.

I think this statement is true. There is no single 'connection point'
between a helmet and the arm -- they are hooked by gravity, but not
connected.
