I'd say it should be reduced - there are potentials for generalization
in the data.

My specific concern after reading the draft is that it does not
seem to cover the possibility of placing a mini-fig headgear piece on a 1x1
round brick.  A concrete example of where this might be used is in the
modelling of a store with a display of hats or "wigs".

I think the current document suffers from confusing connection
possibilities with other physical limitations -- for instance, a car
base (<http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=4212>) has a 2x2
inset stud area.  Since only 2x2 parts (or smaller) may be connected
here, should this be a different connection type?  (warning: rhetorical
question, correct answer: "no")  Likewise, the 'minifig headgear'
connection really should just be a normal anti-stud connection.
Preventing intrusion of one part into another is an issue separate from
specifying connection points.

It also does not
address the placing of pieces in "uncommon" ways, such as hanging a mini-fig
helmet on a 1x2 plate with arm (LDraw part 4623).  The "uncommon" ways could be
handled just as they are now,

I think this statement is true.  There is no single 'connection point'
between a helmet and the arm -- they are hooked by gravity, but not
connected.
