I have 2 combinations I can use, 1 drawbar trailer or a semitrailer, and one more going on, so to recover something, yes, I have something. The problem are that the pneumatics are to weak to be able to lift it, as I tried it. And about the the large (...) (20 years ago, 19-Feb-04, to lugnet.technic)

In case anyone has ever wanted to build a trailer with manual ramps, there are some ideas in these pictures. These will be part of a 9-piece construction site that might be done early next year. Ok, so this is a very productive month. I was in a mood of doing something simple after alot of trial and error with the crane on the TGA. Ok, I haven't seen anybody doing this before, so I thought I'd be the first out. Well, several people before has done it, but I never have seen a crane with jibb on a truckchassis yet. The 8880 tires were not the correct shape to be telehandler tires, and wrapping the tracks around them was the only way to make them taller and narrower. I think real ones are 4-5ft in diameter. Hi Anders, It's a very nice model. It's very life like because you've added lots of details. And the opening doors are a nice detail as well. Now you can have a good look into the driver's cab. I recently saw this truck, and I must say it is huge! My only qualm with it is that it, along with all the other big technic trucks I've seen on Brickshelf, always use independent front suspension. As for compliments, I'd have to say that's a nice (...) (20 years ago, 6-Nov-04, to lugnet.technic)

Not that it's a huge issue, but the instruction book for 8602 has a 'comic' in the back--Toa Nuju and Toa Nokama names are switched for their 'mugshot'.   Pneumatic cylinder rust.
 
Is there a way to preserve lego pneumatic piston rods? I have 30 pistons and many of the rods have gone from silver to dark gray. Is there a special oil or grease that would remedy this? Ross- I have designed the gearing mechanism for the crab steering. It is a redesigned version of my original crab steer design. I'm doing a cross-check on a part number. Can anyone confirm the number of the older, square Technic piston? Ross- Looking at Nathan's crab design, I realized that the center steering mechanism resembles a differential. Incidentally, Nathan's design can be used with 2 fixed steering wheels: reverse the rear steering bar, so that tilting the "steering column" now operates crab steering mode remove the knob on (...) Nathan- Thanks for showing how crab steering works. I also like how you designed it, but the fact that it doesn't have a fixed steering wheel bothered me, so I designed one which has. So why did I want to get the hubs and the rubber to stick together on the old large Technic tyres? After a very successful 8448 and 8475 merge, and a mostly successful 8466 and 8475 merge, I decided to have another go at it. Thought about the 956 (...) My preference would be that turning the wheel would give 'normal' steering and tilting it would give 'crab' steering (it seems more intuitive, plus it would be much easier to judge when the 'crab (...) The steering works best if the entire vehicle is in motion (like a car without power steering). Since it is turning all 4 wheels, more torque must be exerted to turn the steering ball than if 2 wheels were being turned. Another issue is the weight. (...) (...) A really cool model. Very cleverly converted too studless. However, the tops of the cylinders have studs. The twisty thing at the top has studs. There are also lights at the top with studs.
