Didn't we find out the the forest moon of Endor has a desert climate in one
of those
Ewok television specials that aired a bit after ROTJ?  I remember a scene
where a few
ewoks and some others had to trudge across the cracked desert to get to some
fortress
where some humans were being held captive by some giants.  I could be
remembering this
all wrong since I have seen this in about 12 years.   I still have the
videotapes(on beta)
somewhere.

Also, a desert climate is primarily characterized by the amount of
precipatation received.
The arctic here on earth is actually one big frozen desert.  I guess that
could mean Hoth
is essentially a desert.

Also the climates of these places could be more variable then we see(colder
at the poles, warmer at the equator, etc).

I should get back to work studying the paleoclimates of the western Gulf of
Mexico.

I guess I was thinking primarily of Tatooine (always shown as a desert),
Endor (always referred to as "the forest moon"), and Hoth (usually referred
to as a barren, frozen wasteland).  And of course...hey, it's always dark
and cold on the surface of the Death Star.  :)
