Well, this actually bugs me, too, but: At the beginning of the film, Obi-Wan
does say that "Master Yoda told me I should be mindful of the future". So,
perhaps Yoda trained him from when he was very small, *then* Qui-Gon took him
as a Padawan (how much could Obi-Wan learn locked up in the Jedi tower with
Yoda all the time?) and then, after Qui-Gon has nothing left to teach him, he
goes back to Yoda.
And, of course, rather than explain all of that to Luke, he just said "go to
Dagobah, find Yoda, he taught me, he'll teach you". After all, Luke was in no
condition for long,tedious explanations about Obi-Wan's glory days at the time
:D

As did I.... but I bet this comes into the whole "point of view" thing somehow.
