Jedi Speed. It's a commonly (read, in more than one Star Wars book/game/etc)
used Force ability.
My personal guess as to none of them- Obi-Wan, Maul, or Qui-Gon- used it to get
through the barriers is that they were busy using the Force in other ways, like
to heighten their reflexes. If one person swinging a saber in combat's doing
it, it's probably close to suicide for his opponent not to...

| (...) But... but... but... OWK was doing _one_ thing - trying to run through the barriers. If that is not a good time to use speed, what is? So that is not a good, complete answer. Unless in some later movie OWK, in retelling this story, smacks his (...) (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)
