  After the movie
 
Well, we all saw it today, at last. Critics are right, plot was a bit thin but it's a glorious movie nonetheless. What I found most amusing was that my kids and I pointed out to each other all the vehicles we'd already built. I saw one of those (...) (25 years ago, 23-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

My main peeve about Episode I was the way they left behind Anakin's mother. With the support of the Jedi Council and the fortunes of the planet, Naboo, I am sure someone could have bartered for the freedom of Shmi Skywalker at the end of the movie. (...) I believe the Gungans played an important role from a 'Force' perspective. In order for Anakin to destroy the control ship, the Force must have been with him. The Shmi situation is supposed to come into play in the next movie and is supposed to help Annakin along towards the dark side. I think the idea is that no legitimate part of the republic would have dealings with the Hutt "mafia" and that makes (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Spoilerage One doesn't really know from the end of TPM how much time has elapsed between the end of the battle and the celebration. Obviously, Obi wan gets accepted and Anakin gets apprenticed, so there is some elapsed time here, but it's a bit (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Most of my peeves have been covered except one. OWK should have said "I have a bad feeling about this" at a better time. It seems Lord Lucas wanted to get the line out of the way. Didn't we find out the the forest moon of Endor has a desert climate in one of those Ewok television specials that aired a bit after ROTJ?
