I'm using ROBOLAB 1.5 on MacOS 9, using it to teach undergrad and grad students in design about interactive behaviors. I'd like to create printouts of some sample programs I have developed. If you use RcxCC, look at the code listing. At the bottom of each task you will find the address of the last OP code. Just total them up and you have the size. Hi Is there an easy way of calculating the exact size of a program in bytes (for NQC). I would like to know how much I've got available for the datalog when the program is downloaded. I applied the patch manually (ok. I admit it was fairly obvious where the changes had to be made) Maby I made a mistake applying the patch or something as I still get Collission errors. Well. It's a bit strange that under LegOS you "must" work only in "near"/"short range" mode. So I've modified my kernel to work always in "far" or "long range" mode (that works with near too)... Interestingly enough, this patch makes it possible for me to modify the code inside lnpd to allow it to receive signals from the Lego Remote (9738). The problem is that lines in Martin's original message got folded over by email. You'll have to bring the patch into an editor and combine lines 8 and 9 of the original post (be sure there is a space between "..time, " and "tx _..." Then combine the (...) No matter what I do (opening the window, turning on more lights etc) I can't get the tower to stop seeing collissions. Ralph - I'm interested in the use of servos with the RCX, but I have no interest in learning the quirks of another computer language. I'm already a bit familiar with Visual Basic,and control the RCX with it. Can your pbForth solution be duplicated (...) I have observed the same behavior... only by night. I think it must be the tower receiving echoes of its own packets. Thanks for the quick response. "It's fixed in the next release, which is due in a week or so" qualifies for excellent support, IMHO. :) My workaround is a REXX exec rewritting a small header file on the fly before each compile. -- Mark Haye, haye (...) Yes, I noticed that too, but I'm trying to program multiple RCXs with the same source, and the symbol is meant to represent the RCX's id, so it must have multiple values. You found a bug - NQC is actually defining D to be the tokens =1, which then leads to a lot of confusion later on. Basically I bungled the pointer math. Here's the latest update. Hope we will get a clear picture of this #@$@ memory after all. The point is that the RCX processor can address 64k of memory, so let's divide this range into 4 equal area of 16k. (note:16k or 16384, in hex is 0x4000). (...) I have seen some systems that have RAM set up this way: The first area is for the system, the second area is user programs and is allocated from the bottom up. Well, I checked with Kekoa's memory map, and indeed, thinks are not as simple. And Dave was right (Why did I doubt is sacred words?) Memory is divided into three main area of 16k. The first is ROM, containing the base programs. The two other (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

I don't think it is correct: 0x8000 is 32k: the firmware would start at the end of memory!?! 0xbfff is 48k: unless the 16k of the rom are counted of course... Then this mean (...) Just updated my libc version (I love apt-get on debian linux... woohoo... it took about 30 seconds to update about 6 core applications on my system with a single simple command !!) Hi all, I've finally got my RCX servo driver circuit working. It was actually working months ago but I couldn't get the servo to stop jittering. Because of several reports about compiling problems with lnpd, i made a static version and uploaded it to arthurdent. I'm trying to figure out how much memory the RCX has. Many sources claims that it has - 16k rom - 16k ram for the firmware - 6k reserved for our own programs Does this mean the RCX has 22k of RAM memory? What an odd number... Also, when I perform (...) I've got 2 RCX's and 2 pc's in the same room so will be working with this over the next couple of weeks. The 2 RCX units work really well, my next step is to get the PC's to join the party. When I first checked out the Radio Shack CDS cell five packs, the cells were all alike, about 1/4 inch and flat on two sides. But when I went back, I found some packs that had different cells. I received a package from Lego yesterday. It contained gears, a motor, and two rotation sensors. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to use all five sensors at once, 1 light, 2 touch, 2 rotation. the LNP stuff is neat, but it seem's that the remote control isn't using either "integrity" or "addressing" protocol how do I access directly the incoming IR buffer ?? Does anyone have an example or two of using LNP so two RCX units can communicate with each other? I have been searching all over the place, looking through the header files and everything for weeks. Hello, I just bought a Mindstorm set and am testing it out. When I went through the tutorial on the CD I could not get the motors to stop when the light sensor was activated. Ooops, Figured it out. When you set the RCXTTY variable, leave out the spaces. ie: set RCXTTY=com4 NOT: set RCXTTY = com4 The whitespace is not parsed out by the MS-DOS command line. Now that I have the frmdl3.exe and dll.exe recognizing com4, I'm (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Thanks for the info, I tried setting the environment variable (running Win 95) RCXTTY=com4 without much effect. I did get frmdl3.exe to send out to com4 with the following: frmdl3.exe --tty=com4 legOS.srec However, dll.exe still won't send via com4. (...) I did not get any answers for my previous question about this, and I am still puzzled as for why light sensor readings for a dark background have 0x1F0 added to them once in a while (more often than not, actually) any ideas for what might (...) (...) Don't forget that your monitor may also interfere with the download. I've had problems go away when I put the RCX/tower away from the front of my monitor... (...) Unfortunately, the problem is not ambient light. I was trying this in a dark room at night. The only light source in the room was the monitor.
