Hey, y'all-
Sorry to say that this has been a long week, so while I've looked
into the annotation system somewhat, I haven't gotten anything running
yet. I hope to look into it further tonight- the php web site has some
very nice and open code that I'll probably borrow from.
As far as the hosting question goes, I've been looking more into
sourceforge.net, which is a site devoted to the creation and organization
of Open Source software. (In a side note, if any of you have interest in
any open source projects, take a look at sourceforge- it is really
great!) It offers lots of free hosting space, CVS, mailing lists, web
space (with cgis and php), public space, etc. And of course it's all
free, thanks to the VA Linux IPO :) Unfortunately, there is one catch.
Because of the size of the windows toolkit, hosting that build is
an important factor in any move of hosting from my machine to another,
more easily accessible machine. Unfortunately, sourceforge is very, very
pro-open source, and so hosting the windows build (which includes the
proprietary InstallShield (do we even have a license for that?)) is, at
least on the surface, against their rules. Since everything installed by
the InstallShield is OpenSource, I've asked them for an exception, but we
won't get a ruling on that exception until after Linux Expo (their policy
guy is there, and understandably occupied.)
So- that's the state of things right now. I'll keep you all up to
date on the SourceForge news, and set up the site if we are allowed to.
Enjoy your weekend-
Luis

Of course, then again I could look and see that there already is a lego-doc.sourceforge.net. Now whether or not TLG approves of that URL is another matter (I was trying to think of another option, since Lego doesn't want "lego" in a URL.) The rest (...)
