  Recycled Sonar units

Hello All, I have salvaged two modules from Polaroid cameras. My question is ... the pin outs on the control board for the "Spectra" has 17 straight in a line pin ins and the other module and board from a Autofocus 660 has 8 straight in a line pin (...)   Anyone using the motor powewr header J13 ????

Hi all, for designing reasons I wonder if anyone is using the Motor Power Header J13. Would anyone be pleased if we added an extra power connector to our expansionboard to supply J13 with more power ??? Thanks..... Tom (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  New Expansionboard

Hi all We at the TWI (School of engineering, www.twi.ch) in Switzerland are using the Handyboard for several projects. One of them is a model car with ultrasonic sensors and model servos. Because of some limitations of the Handyboard we have built a (...) (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: High current speed controllers

Thomas, We are using the HB to control an AstroFligt 50A controller. The controller comes standard with a 20K pot to vary the PWM signal. What I did as substitute the 20K pot with a DallasSimi DS1803 pot. Its a 14 (I think) dip package that uses I2C (...) (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Interrupt Programming

We are building a mobile robot using the Handy Board and we desperately need help. To read into the sensors, we are programming using Interactive-C interupts. Would this be a good idea, and if so how do you do it as we are not quite sure. Are there (...) (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: tracking an IR beacon

The phase difference seen by the sensors would be tiny at any practical frequency. Assume that you have the sensors a distance, D, apart and facing 'forward' on the robot. If there is a transmitting source at 90 degrees to the forward direction, the (...) (27 years ago, 8-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: tracking an IR beacon

(...) I confirm what David is saying! Once i worked on some kind of beacon using an PLL to find its frequency (we used a lm567) and it couldn't work properly due to the response time of the PLL. An alternate solution was to replace the PLL by a (...) (27 years ago, 7-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: tracking an IR beacon

(...) Hmmm...mmm... welllll.. if you are planning to use the GPUI series or equiv. as your detectors.. I think you may run into problems with attempting to detect critical time information about the modulated waverform. Namely, and I'm no expert on (...)   IR Disturbance?

Hi, I'm trying to do the Trinity College contest for my science project. I'm using IR reflectance sensors to navigate the walls. But when I tried with the candle the robot went haywire. I think it's due to the IR eminating from the candle. How can I (...) (27 years ago, 6-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: tracking an IR beacon

I'm no electronic wizard which I think you probably would have to be to even consider what you are suggesting. Wouldn't it be simpler to just shield your sensors so that they 'look' in different directions? Have one look a little bit left and the (...) (27 years ago, 6-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

new version of 6811 Downloader for Mac

Hi all, The 6811 Downloader program was starting to be flaky under System 8, so I fixed an odd serial bug. More like a work-around, actually. Anyway, if you use this program, and it is starting to flake out on you, download the new version. It's at (...) (27 years ago, 6-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: High current speed controllers

(...) Tom, Try this company , They have single and dual Forward/Reverse proportional speed controls for 4.8 - 140vdc at up to 220 amps and 3 hp. 500oz/in to 27 foot/pound packaged servos. I have a catalog from this company, great stuff but the price (...) (27 years ago, 6-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Short?

Hi, U13 (voltage regulator) blew on my Handy Board, so I replaced it. Somehow I think I shorted out the polyswitch fuse(F1) and the voltage regulator (shorted the pins that are closest to eachother. Now if I plug my HB in, the BATT, PWR, motor 2, (...) (27 years ago, 6-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  High current speed controllers

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a speed controller circuit for controlling a 12VDC motor which could draw up to 25A. I'd like to use the Handy Board to control its speed. Cost is not a big concern but compactness is. I would (...) (27 years ago, 6-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  tracking an IR beacon

Hello all - My goal: I'm trying to determine the feasibility of tracking an IR source with my Handy Board. My initial scheme calls for using two IR detectors (the ones with all the internal filters, etc, to provide a clean 5V output upon detection (...)   IC 3.1 pcode sources

Hi all, The IC 3.1 pcode sources are available from: ftp://newtonlabs.com...code31.exe (win32 self-extracting archive) or ftp://newtonlabs.com...de31.tar.Z (compressed UNIX tar archive) If the general consensus is that the new PWM routines are (...)   Memory

Does anyone know how to increase the handyboard memory above the standard 32K? I looked at the archives, but I didn't see any solutions. -Richard (27 years ago, 4-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Smooth PWM Routines!

Hi Does anyone know where to get the pcode source for IC 3.1 ? If I can get my hands on a copy it shouldn't be too difficult to work the new PWM routines into it.... Thanks Scott (27 years ago, 4-Dec-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
