There were a couple atricles in Circuit Cellar Ink over the years
on RS-485 using the 75176 chip. Their home control system uses it for
the various IO devices.
The National semiconductor web site has a couple app notes for using
the chip, including "10 Ways To Bulletproof RS-485 Interfaces".
