And just to throw in my $.02 on the issue, I have to agree with Todd. I
personally don't think that LD has really fulfilled what it claimed it was
trying to take on. Does that mean I don't appreciate the efforts made to
date? Not in the least. I'm actually very impressed with the amount of
response that we HAVE gotten. But to go back and read the official posts
made by members of LD, I can't help but feel that LD has lived up to its
high standards.
And in that respect, I'd probably like LD to be realistic, not political. I
mean, sure, it'd be great to promise us that you'd comment on every post and
try and contribute every week, or even every month-- or just give us notices
when major (or even minor!) things happen. But if that promise isn't
fulfilled, it's worse than having never made the promise to begin with--
even if you ARE committing to PART of that promise.
What I'd like to see is a realistic presentation of what to expect from LD,
if only to say that they'll mostl likely just listen, and mayhaps throw in a
comment now and again. And maybe now that LD has had some experience it will
know what it really CAN accomplish more realistically. And hey, if LD really
CAN and WANTS to create an interactive forum on Lugnet, that's great. All
the better. But if LD simply can't do it, or it's honestly not worth their
time, then they shouldn't go about saying that they will.
$.02,
DaveE
