Look, guys & gals, let's cut them some slack. Lego is a large and
historically conservative company which thought it was producing toys
for children and is still reeling from the discovery that it is actually
producing toys for 30-something year old hackers (and others - please
no-one out there take offense. This is just intended as a shorthand).
It isn't just a question of a Lego employee taking the time to answer
a customer's questions. This is a very public forum with (right at this
instant) a growingly hostile tone. Management and marketing are probably
very concerned about Lego employees choosing their words carefully, and
may well want vetting power over any public declarations. And TLG has
not historically needed to develop an apparatus with a fast turnaround
time for this sort of thing. A week is not a long time in TLGland.
Yes, we'd like more responsiveness. Yes, we'd like more information. But
TLH just isn't geared up to this yet. I have little doubt that they
are working on it (that's why we have this newsgroup).
Many of us here work in e.g. high-tech jobs where we are used to the
paradigm of lots of customer involvement and feedback over short
timescales. That just isn't how the toy industry works (I imagine).
Give them a break. They're trying.
[I have no involvement with TLG other than as a customer].
