Is there some unknown reason why any of the rest of us should adopt this
***-kissing attitude towards TLC?

I have wondered about this also.

Yeah, actually. I think you might find it called "We actually want to have a
good relationship with a major company that really doesn't HAVE to listen to
us or give input, but does anyway, albeit in a slow and strange manner."

So you worry about negative posts here damaging a good relationship with TLC?
Please don't. The LEGO Company does have to listen due to the fact that their
bulk sales will get a real shot in the arm from us soon, and they planned it
that way a long time ago. They are probably stuck with us now, and they will
watch here for marketing reasons and PR reasons.

Don't be mistaken about LD's motives. Sales to AFOLs are part of a grander plan.
It's never been personal or sway-able that I know of.

...
I still think Lego Direct and bulk orders have been insanely slow in coming
to full fruition, despite the headway that has been made already.

It feels slow, but actually it's following the schedule Brad first posted. This
community was informed about it quite early. Todd and I have been told that the
lag was planned to "drum up excitement." A marketing strategy.

Maybe they're slow because they are the number three toy maker in the world
and actually have an international business to run? I don't really know for
sure..

Such a company could be acting more professionally. They could be capable of
accurate predictions. And I don't think such a company needs defense from anyone
here.

I'm not trying to be critical of you or anyone else in this discussion. Please
don't think any of my comments are personal. I honestly worry about members of
the LUGNET community getting upset about something which in reality is out of
their control. I speak for posters and lurkers on both sides of the fence.

I urge everyone to consider that naive comments and petty bickering can also
make the community look bad. I prefer to see argments between members of the
community take place in a debate area, be they on-topic or not.

Even if I do think Lego has made some hideous errors in with their consumer
communications and products, give them a break. You don't have to buy crap
they put out. They're not forcing you to like Creator or Bionicle. But
hey... maybe SOME people do. And if I had SOME people liking a product I
made, I would sell it. I would rather make a small profit by selling poor
sets than no profit by selling no sets at all.

I hope this discussion can remain on the subject of LEGO Direct (not The LEGO
Company's product offerings). Again I don't mean to pick on you in particular.
This is simply an example.

To all, I'm writing this in a real hurry. Please don't feel obligated to pick
apart my comments. But if you must, let's take out of this offical channel.

thanks,
Suz
