Hey, let's be fair here. Those horrendous slow menus have

You're kidding, right?  (Well, I don't mean to be snide.  If it works better
for you now, that's great!)  I'm on a Sun Ultra 5 here at lunch on a T3 and
when I go to <http://shop.lego.com/> the page still takes 6 seconds (that's
a lot on a T3) to load because of all the JavaScript monkey business it's
still doing with the menu stuff.  Then when I go to the "LEGO BRAND" tab in
the "Browse By" section, it takes another 6 seconds while it displays "Please
wait, loading menu..."  Many of the fly-out tabs each take another second or
so to load.  Just for the heck of it, I moused around over all the tabs and
timed how long it took.  53 seconds.  Not reasonable in my book.

I think this proves that someone is listening (though I agree it
would be nice to have a bit more feedback).

Well, this is really what I was referring to.  I agree with you that the
situation seems to have improved in that it now -is- marginally usable
(albeit extremely painful) whereas before it wasn't usable at all.

But how is anyone to know that there has been an improvement when LD doesn't
post anything back to the people who complained?  When someone has had such a
bad experience, why would they go back?

I've noticed that sometimes people are afraid to admit that they've corrected
something because it would mean admitting that they'd done something wrong.

BTW, here's some more feedback for LD about the fly-out JS menus...

If I've got my browser window size set to 640x480 (and although I never
really run like this, it is the most common setting I've seen at libraries),
and I go to <http://shop.lego.com>, the fly-out menus are cropped to the
browser window.  For example, at the bottom I see "GEAR, BOOKS & WATCHES."
When I mouse over this, all I see is "BOARD GAMES," i.e., the other 4 menu
items are off the screen.  In fact, if I want to see all 9 items in the "LEGO
BRAND" fly-out menu, I have to scroll my browser window almost all the way
down to the bottom before moving my mouse over the label.  Very, very
frustrating.  :-(

Maybe it's just because it's Netscape.  I'll go try this on MSIE 5.5...

(...) Nope, it's not just Netscape -- it's broken on MSIE 5.5 as well.
