The point is, today's parents are those that spend the money.

Maybe, but kids are big consumers too nowadays. They have more money to spend
than we had, and they learn early to speak out their wishes, while we (at
least I) were more silent (subdued?).

I don't think I totally agree with this statement.  Maybe it was me, but
my family didn't have a lot of "disposable" income (I got no allowance),
and I would call me family a little bit on the old fashioned, (subdued-factor),
but I had ways of earning some pocket money.  And I had some relatives send
me money for gifts.

What I am trying to say, is that despite everything, I was still able to
have a fair-size collection.  Of course now that I have gotten older,
my collection has grown expedentially!! :)

The market is not the same as in 'old days', so TLC could not stay the same
either - it's inevitable, some call it 'progression', some call it
'degeneration', but it all boils down to the fact that _nothing_ stays the
same, _everything_ changes ('Panta rhei' as Herakleitos (Greek) said 2500
years ago).

In the long run, to stay alive you need to adapt to changes. The rigid,
unchanging companies/Neanderthals/views/dinosaurs die...

I think you started good about the market changing, but you missed the boat.
Yes, the market changes, but like others have posted, sometimes you have
success in your core line, especially when it had been sooo successful
historically.

I am not saying Mindstorms wasn't a welcome change, and in some respects,
Bionicle, though it lacks appeal to many of us "traditional" enthusiasts,
just might bring a new generation of fans to Lego....

I might be stepping off a cliff with this statement, but I think if Lego
isn't going to return to traditional styled sets (new ones, not
reintroduced, and definitely NOT juniorized sets), then I think Lego should
increase its Bulk offerings so fans like me, can get the pieces we need
without buying whole sets.....

(the above statement, should probably go in Dear.Lego, but I am too lazy to
cross-post it there, and don't feel like repeating myself...) :)
