Please note that the LDView beta will make transparent parts 100%
transparent due to a problem with its alpha channel handling. That means
that the entire transparent part will be cropped away unless you have edge
lines turned on (and antialiased edges may need to be turned off).
If youre interested, you can try an updated LDView beta here:

(Note that the above link will probably stop working within days/weeks.)

Just tested it and that seems to fix the problem. Looks a whole lot better
too.

Great!
One thing you do have to keep in mind when using LDView as the renderer is that
LDViews background color will show through transparent pieces to some extent.
The LPub background will also show through, but the color calculation that
LDView uses for the transparent parts included the color of whatever is behind
them. So if the background is behind them, the background color will bleed into
the part color. So its advisable to set the background color in your LPub
LDView preference set to something similar to the color youre using in LPub
(which would be white by default in LPub). And if youre going to use a
background bitmap in LPub, ideally use one that is relatively consistent in its
color, and then use the average color of the bitmap as your background color in
LDView.
