    LPub 2.3 available —Kevin L. Clague
   I'm happy to announce the release of LPub 2.3. Enhancements from LPub 2.2 include: - POV Ray 3.6 support - PNG replaces BITMAP and JPEG formats. - PNG support for transparency - Layout support for multiple steps per page - New REMOVE_GROUP (...) (19 years ago, 9-May-05, to lugnet.cad) !

      (...) LPub has LDView render popped down, so you don't see the window pop up. I was trying to render (URL) using LDView.        (...) new LSynth soon so people can have this fix. Travis sent me a updated beta LDView, so I re-rendered pedmatic, and all the hoses look great. IMHO, LDView (and soon ldglite) is a superior solution to POV-RAY and MEGAPOV. The MEGAPOV solution is (...) (19 years ago, 16-May-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

       (...) You're welcome. Just to check, LDView still doesn't generate exactly the same viewing angle as L3P, right? (That was next on my list of things to fix.)       (...) After some fixes in LPub, I got ldGlite renderer working with LPub! The images are comparable to LDView, but ldGlite renders blindingly fast!       (...) It's not your eyes. I think this artifact is visible in *every* parts box. Maybe a bug in ldGLite when rendering a single part?       (...) Actually it was a bug in LPub. ldglite pre-crops the image to the smallest enclosing rectangle. LPub didn't expect this, applied its own crop routine, and added artifacts. Also this pre-cropping is why ldglite process is much faster than (...) (19 years ago, 18-May-05, to lugnet.cad)

LPub automatically centers the 3D model about the origin. ldglite draws the origin at 2/3 of the way down the window, so it ends up rendering it partially off screen. You can manually work around this by using the (...) (19 years ago, 18-May-05, to lugnet.cad)

      (...) I think it's probably because ldglite defaults to the 2/3 screen offset used by LDRAW and ldlite, while l3p defaults to the center of the screen.        Time for me to come in! First of all: being able to render with LDView and LDGLite is GREAT!!! However I have a problem: I cannot seem to be able to render in isometric view in LDView and no images are generated using LDGLite. Can you, Kevin, or (...)          (...) Yes, the crop routine only checks the alpha channel when cropping. LPub used to crop using the RGB channels, but alpha channel is much more reliable.          (...) Please note that the LDView beta will make transparent parts 100% transparent due to a problem with its alpha channel handling.          (...) Great! One thing you do have to keep in mind when using LDView as the renderer is that LDView's background color will show through transparent pieces to some extent.         Using LPub 2.3.0.7 and ldGLite 1.0.7 and removed that -Z9000 stuff, I still am unable to create images on my PC at home. Though ldGLite is working fine manually and LPub is doing something, no images are created. I managed to do so on my PC at (...) (19 years ago, 24-May-05, to lugnet.cad)

         LOL My mistake... :-( Having read that indeed I needed a higher version, I must have thought 1.0.7 was 1.1.6. I actually E-mailed the wrong zip file from work to home...         I have a few comments about some of the settings. (...) In case it's not clear, the Transparent check box makes default-colored items transparent; it does NOT make the background transparent.        (...) Here's what I did to get LDView to work. First, you need to be using LDView 3 Beta 1. LPub won't work right with LDView 2.x. In LDView, go into preferences, then to the Preference Sets tab, and create a preference set named LPub. Apply that (...) (19 years ago, 19-May-05, to lugnet.cad)

When you do the Generate->CSIs, PLIs and BOM, and then go do other things on your computer, LPub uses 100% CPU on the machine once it's finished, and has the progress panel (...) It may be common to all recent releases, but I've found when rendering with ldview or ldglite (havent tested with pov-ray, but can't remember the problem) if the lpub\ldraw sub-directory doesn't already exist I get an error.       I just noticed a minor bug. For reasons that I don't understand, my layout images are being generated at 800x600, even though I changed all the 800x600 dimensions in the config file to 1280x960. (That's not the bug; I assume I'm just missing (...) (19 years ago, 25-May-05, to lugnet.cad)

I would prefer an option to switch off the alpha as sometimes I may wish to use this feature (eg. if I had a white background (...) (19 years ago, 13-May-05, to lugnet.cad)
