All these polarity-switching solutions presume only 1 train. If you've got 3 trains, and each of them is hitting a block boundary at the same time, you're going to have a short no matter what you do. (...) Just so you know, if you want to accomplish the same thing without sawing on your track, get some clear 3M tape and stick it on the inside face of each rail. hey thanks... i didn't want to use the snot on top, but without the top of those long wedge slopes, there was the option of making it work, or buying the parts off bricklink. The latter I think... by having a truck long gap, the motor coasts across the gap but never shorts out from one wheel set to the other, once it hits the powered side again (even though the polarity is reversed) it just continues on. Cool inspection car! Definitely captures the look of the original, especially with the use of the curved wedges. It's hard to use those in a prototypical model, but you definitely got it. As for powering it, I don't know where you could stuff the (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains)

That's standard wiring, been done that way since I was a wee lad, there's no need to divide the reverse loop itself into two blocks. With (...) Yes, you can automate the reversing loops. In fact, using the RCX to do so should be fairly simple, except that it takes 2 of them to do it. I received the Cargo Train yesterday and built it late last evening. I didn't find the decals. I emailed Lego Direct and should hear a response Monday. I'm not too worried about getting the decals. Hi Dryden, DCC sends information to the decoders by flipping the polarity of the power supply in a specific timing sequence. So, it's not like the X-10 protocol. i have a question concerning how the DCC signal is sent Is it just sort of a "rider" on top of the power similar to X-10 home automation signals? The signal box looks good - more substantial than normal. I would be frightened to cross the footbridge without any handrails. Not another cherry picker - have LEGO not got any imagination? After looking at the pictures, I can say that I wont be buying one, mainly because there isnt anything in it that I have a use for (except mabie some of the printed computer parts) As to why it is what it is: 1.Limits on just what pieces Lego Direct (...)
