I agree that it would be nice to get just the level crossing at a lower price

priced (Level crossing: $22, Yard Tower: $18, Rail Vehicle: $10).

Yes, I see your point, but is the rail vehicle worth $10 U.S.? Everyone who is a
"trainhead" wants a Level Crossing at $30 but we are hesitant to purchase one at
$50. I, for one, don't want a 6 wide baseplate. Why? I've got hundreds of 4 wide
baseplates that are still being offered by LD (Main Street, 4565, etc.) It's
kind of like old school vs. juniorized. Six and eight wide trains are exquisite.
It's just that the new road baseplates seem super juniorized to me. Am I going
to trash the hundreds of 4 wide vehilcles that I've collected over the years? No
way! If LD is going to ditch a product that has been offered for years (how many
years has Lego offered 4 wide trains? They still are.) then so be it. If I
purchased the Level Train Crossing, I'd have to put the baseplate in my ever
increasing pile of unused Legos. I won't buy it. Sorry, the new trains are 4
wide and the Level crossing is 6 wide. They don't even match. Someone needs to
make a decision. Are the train sets going to be 6 wide, or are the baseplates
going to be 4 wide? You can't have new trains at 4 wide with a new crossing at 6
wide. Or can you?
