Comments and crits welcome.

I'll bite... tell us more about the scenery that's used for the setting. Maybe I
haven't been paying attention but this is the first time I can recall someone
using conventional MR scenery for a LEGO backdrop. Is that scenery from an
existing layout and you just plopped some LEGO track down for the shots or ???

I've never done any modelling apart from Lego. So these pictures are my real
laypout. I started using non-lego like this when I began a round-the-room track
and realised it was too impractical to build lego scenery. I use the
conventional polystyrene insulation glued together and cut to make the terrain
outline, then cover in wetted plaster of paris bandages, and after drying paint
in 4 shades of grey ... and later 5 or so shades of earth colours. After that
the foliage etc is added. In fact I have 6 nephews between the ages of 7 and 11
who have assisted me greatly in this messy and fun job! They also of course
build their own trains and manage to crash most of mine. Although family rules
dictate that the one who crashes must collect the pieces and bag them up for
re-building later!!!

The whole circuit is not complete with this kind of scenery. Though here are
some shots of the monorail section ...

thanks!

You're welcome ...

... however I'm also a huge fan of those builders of Lego based scenery ...
mountains, tunnels etc ... I do think they look great ...

In fact some of my non-lego bridges could do with re-building in Lego ...

(...) <snippage> (...) Just a thought, would you ever consider writting an article on combining Lego trains with 'conventional' model railroad scenery for perhaps lego.com/trains or maybe trains.com? I'm sure both 'traditional' model railroaders and (...) (21 years ago, 2-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains)
