John, if this cause justifies the loss in human life, how much more loss
would it justify? What if our best guess based on well-rounded intelligence
suggested that the only way to have a serious chance of ridding the world of
this vermin was to committ to an Islamic genocide (Theocide?)? Would you
authorize that?

Chris, your hypothetical is so proposterous that is doesnt merit a response.

John Neal -- King of the dodge! Hes here all week folks, try the veal.
Just in case, and more, for other readers, Ill give it one more shot:
Let us imagine for a moment that we came (through whatever means) to believe
that Islam had a much greater propensity for the production of militant radicals
and that while most muslims were not a problem, the existence of Islam would
continue to spawn out groups hostile to our security. (Note, their reasons
dont matter for the sake of this hypothetical.)
Now, John previously asserted that the 14000 deaths (or whatever the number is)
that this war has caused is a worthy investment in our security needs because of
the threat to the US that Iraq posed. So...if we take these two elements
together, I am asking how high the death toll can go before you think that maybe
the solution is worse than the problem.
As an extreme exploration of this notion, I want to know if John believes that
the elimination of Islam, if that were required -- not that I think it is, would
be justified.
And something that just occurred to me that might make this easier is to present
my views. But first, John, please dont respond to this part of the post yet,
if youre going to respond at all. I fear dilution of the point.
Given my hypothetical, I absolutely think that the murder of millions and
millions of innocents is worth our security. There is no question in my mind.
If thats how the world works, then it is unfortunate that those innocents must
pay in that way, but not as unfortunate as it would be to allow constant
predation on our selves. However, in reality, I think that as a result of our
actions in Iraq, we are less safe than we were before. I was against going to
wage war on Iraq. Then I was against pulling out prematurely. Now I think we
should just get out post haste and let the vaccuum suck. Maybe Europe can help
them better than we have.

| (...) What? You think you've trapped me with your idiotic scenario??? LOL (...) Imagine? It's already true. But your ridiculous conclusion that the answer to preventing it is to slaughter all Muslims is outrageous! (...) And thus your little science (...) | (...) Chris, your hypothetical is so proposterous that is doesn't merit a response. What your little scenario actually sounds like is the Islamo-fascists' goal: Kill all of the Jews and infidels and impose world-wide sharia. JOHN (20 years ago, 9-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)
