Frank.... you must have gotten a different catalog than I did.  I'm looking
at the dinosaurs now and what I see are dinosaurs made out of LEGO pieces
that are shaped to look like dinosaur parts.  Not really LEGO "bricks" as
such, but rather highly specialized pieces which are intended to be used to
make something that looks (very much) like a dinosaur.

I think Frank is referring to sets 7000-7003, the "young" dinosaur series. Other
than the heads and tails, the bulk of the body is made up of bricks, mostly
slope pieces.

Ah... my mistake and my apologies.  I made the assumption that because this
thread started with a comment on the recent Shop At Home catalog that the
dinosaurs were the ones in that book. (1371, 6719, 6720, 6721, 6722).

I agree, the 7000-7003 dinosaurs are indeed made with more bricks and less
specialized pieces.

So this begs the question then.... why aren't they in the catalog?  Are they
old or deleted items?

Regards,
Allan B.

(...) I don't think that is the case. If anything, they may be too new to be in the catalog. I just started seeing them in stores a short while ago, and most stores near me still carry the whole line. Henry (23 years ago, 23-Aug-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.dear-lego)
