I just finished 7720 Battery
Train set last night.  It was inventoried from the instructions by Peeron.
Please pull up the instructions on Peeron.  Very first page is three
minifigures.Your inventory lists two.  So parts 3624, 3626ap01,970c00,973p26 are
incorrect.  Find the platform instructions step #3, there are 2 2x3 plates black
clearly visible, inventory lists none.  Not only that there are only 2 of 3023
black, inventory says 4, There are no train buffer single, x484, inventory says
4.  This was also verified, so two people made the exact same mistakes.  That is
very common on your inventories.  Almost every one that I have done, about 1000
by now is like this. Some have a lot more mistakes, some less.  I am trying to
help.  Instead of accepting my help you all get defensive.

Hello,
I was the person to verify the 7720 set (and this is my first post on Lugnet).
Please, excuse me to not check the whole inventory properly. I have only
corrected the most obvious mistakes like the number of wheels. I have overlooked
the minifig parts by mistake because the header says there are 3 of them...
shame on me.
Unfortunately, even your update is not perfect. You wrote there are none single
buffers - I see 4 of them on the blue battery box car.

In my opinion, there are two major problems with Peeron inventories:
- There is something that "devours" some e-mails heading for Peeron address.
Maybe it stops only messages with attachments, maybe it's random.
- Nobody is perfect. The LEGO Company is not perfect as well. There are many set
variations so I cannot say "my MISB inventory is the only correct". For example,
the part numbers with suffixes (a,b...) are somewhat interchangeable. This can
influence the rest of the inventory! Take a look at set 4563-1: my set (bought
as MISB in the 1990's) has part 2924b instead of 2924, white plates 4x10 + 1x4
instead of 4x12 etc. But it doesn't mean that the Peeron inventory is wrong.

John, I will keep my fingers crossed for your enormous work to make it to
Peeron. I believe that the problem is only in the e-mail "black hole".
Also, many thanks that you opened this question on Lugnet - I think that
cooperative work and inventory discussions can make the inventories better than
the individual updates do.

Greetings
Martin

P.S. Sorry for my bad English. I live in Prague, my native language is Czech.
I've been reading Lugnet News for quite a long time before I became courageous
enough to post something.

Your English is fine, probably better than mine.
Your comment about the buffers is correct.  However I had a mint in sealed box
and it did not have the buffers in it.  I opened it about a year ago and never
put it together.  I am finding that sets do not match instructions exactly all
the time, mostly in small parts like that, that makes little difference to the
overall playability of the set.  Most of my sets from 1974 on were bought by me
and many only recently opened.  This one I got from Masgarn du Nord in Denmark.
I have found that the buffers have been left out of other train sets so it might
have even been a printing mistake.  Who knows, I just do these from my sets and
the directions. Had this not been in a sealed condition I would not have
mentioned the correction.  I have never found a difference in the number of
minifigs.  There is another part problem that I have seen.  I have never seen a
transgreen 1x1 round closed top brick.  Yet set after set shows this.  I am sure
that there were a few, but at somepoint they switched and never changed their
instructions.  Also the closed studs on the hinges were never changed in the
inventories or the directions until a long time after they changed the part.
Lego is expecially not helpful in figuring this out.  I have written to
Samsonite, Lego US and to Lego Denmark and they have no inventories anywhere of
the Samsonite sets.  I am sure that there is something buried somewhere in
archieves.
Thanks for your comments
John P
