I myself have read 40+ messages & Ashly's response. I offer this thought....
LEGO by Danish definition means "to play well" You can interpurt this how
ever you want but following this statement, it is said that 3 peices 4x4x2
can combine to produce 1060 different "connection" possibilities. I am sorry
to say but contemporary Lego sets have started to turn into Play Mobile type
sets (Juniorization). This contradicts the underlying foundation that Ole
Kirk had so obviously intended on providing to children!
For years and years Lego & its representatives have made the statement that
ultimately it is up to ones imagination to create and build, the set the
peices come in is just a starting place. (I.e. all of the alternate models
shown in just about every instruction manual and idea book)
If that statement/response provided by Ashly (if indeed it was his very own,
I still question) pertaining to the "kids want to build it fast" is true,
then indeed the company's name LEGO should have been put in retirement about
ten years ago, when the fun of a miilion peices turned into 6 giant sized ones!
I do have 1 very positive note: The UCS sets, Statues/Sculptures, and the
"new" Master builder series do LQQK very promising, even at $200.
