I think you mean Britain.

My American History is not great, but I'm pretty sure only a minority of the
American-Settlers thought that *Britain* was a Tyrant and so chose to
revolt. Further, their WoI would not have taken the path it did without
either the support of the French or Britain's lack of conviction.
